Gwinnett County authorities are investigating a two-vehicle wreck that killed a Cumming woman Thursday night.

Ashley Ann Rinaldi, 28, died after the Honda Accord she was driving struck a Ford Crown Victoria at about 10 p.m. at Buford Dam and Sycamore roads near Buford, according to a Gwinnett County police report.

According to the report, the westbound Honda crossed the centerline on Buford Dam Road and struck the oncoming Ford. Buford Dam Road is a winding, two-lane road that crosses Lake Lanier between Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.

Rinaldi had serious injuries and was taken to Northside Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford, Philip Woodrow Hayes, 53, of Buford, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with what police said were not life-threatening injuries.

Neither vehicle had passengers.

The report said that neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the wreck.
