Former teacher, coach faces charges of sexual misconduct with students

A teacher and football coach at Buford High School is accused of having illegal sexual contact with two female students.

Brad Elliott, 37, of Waleska faces one count of sexual battery and one count of sexual assault, the Gwinnett County Police Department reported. The incidents involved two female victims who were students in Elliott’s classes, and occurred on school property during the school year, police said.

Elliott recently resigned his post at the school.

The sexual battery charge is for “unwanted touching of the victim’s buttocks,” police said. The sexual assault charge involves consensual contact between Elliott and the victim, who is older than 16. It is illegal for a teacher to have sexual contact with a student at the same school.

Elliott, who previously taught at Roswell High School, surrendered to police Wednesday night.

Gwinnett Police urge any other potential victims to contact detectives at 770-513-5300.
