A former North Georgia College & State University soccer player may have been dead for as long as two days before his wrecked car was discovered Monday afternoon in a wooded area of Habersham County, officials said.

The body of 24-year-old Jeremy Bouasy was found Monday afternoon in his crashed Volkswagen Jetta, which was obscured by trees and foliage off Ga. 255 alternate, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Bouasy played soccer for North Georgia before graduating last year, a spokeswoman for the college said.

The state patrol said it appeared Bouasy’s car was westbound near Rogers Creek Road when it crossed the center line and ran off the shoulder of the eastbound lane. The car struck an embankment and several trees before coming to a stop in an area that was obscured from the road.

Officials said it appeared the single-car wreck may have happened 36 to 48 hours before the car was discovered.
