Former Hall County Sheriff Bob Vass will be buried Thursday at Memorial Park’s main campus after a service at First Baptist Church.

Vass, who served as sheriff from 1993 until 2000, died Monday following an extended illness.

The procession will start at the Green Street church, traveling through E.E. Butler Parkway, Jesse Jewell Parkway, Browns Bridge Road and Memorial Park Road.

“While we do not have an estimated number of cars, the procession may be quite lengthy,” Deputy Stephen Wilbanks wrote in a news release. “Motorists should prepare for intersections along that route to be closed for several minutes as the procession passes.”

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m.
