Anyone who picked Chris Shields’ checkout line at Target in Flowery Branch knew they were in for a little joking around. If the 45-year-old caught you texting, he’d say “ma’am, texting isn’t allowed in this line” or would point up to the light above his checkout line and say “sorry, this lane is 10 items or fewer.” Since his death Saturday, Target employees set up a memorial table with cards for people to sign, candles and a photo of Shields.
