A Flowery Branch man was killed Tuesday night and two Vero Beach, Fla., residents suffered serious injuries when their vehicles collided on Interstate 95 near Indrio Road in St. Lucie County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Brad McEver Homer, 50, of Flowery Branch was driving a 2006 Ford pick-up south on I-95 at about 9:40 p.m.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said he lost control of his truck, drove through the median and overturned into the northbound lanes.

Linda Schaber, 62, of Vero Beach was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile north on I-95 when Homer’s truck rolled over.

The two vehicles collided, killing Homer, according to the report. Schaber and her passenger, Thomas George Zacharcas, 57, were both taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Fla., with serious injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused Homer to lose control of the truck.
