A young child and four adults were injured and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a head-on collision Tuesday morning in Gainesville, according to police.

Police spokesman Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said the child, who is 16 months old, was listed in serious condition.

The wreck — which happened about 10 a.m. at the intersection of Montgomery Drive and Browns Bridge Road — involved two vehicles and seven total passengers, shutting down Browns Bridge Road for about an hour and a half late Tuesday morning.

“It appears there was a vehicle traveling on Browns Bridge Road when the driver stated another vehicle pulled out of Montgomery.”

“In an attempt to avoid striking that vehicle, one of the vehicles crossed the center lane causing a head-on collision.”

The vehicles involved in the wreck were a Honda Civic and a Toyota Camry.
