“Things that a lot of people dread, like a sink full of dishes, or raking leaves or sweeping up the porch, those are things that I miss,” said Maranda Hoover of Flowery Branch, future owner of the house being built by Habitat for Humanity. Hoover was joined by a group of volunteers from the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, hours after the church’s annual Mission Expo on Saturday. The expo encourages people to volunteer their time instead of money to help local charities.
