A chicken house and two small outbuildings in the 5100 block of Price Road were destroyed in a fire Wednesday afternoon. The chicken house was used for storage.

Initial reports indicate the fire may have started when a lawnmower backfired inside the structure, Hall County Fire Marshal Capt. Scott Cagle said. The fire was called in about 3:30 p.m. and the building was about 75 percent involved when firefighters arrived.

Dawson County and Gainesville fire departments assisted.

The cause and dollar amount of damage have not been determined.
