Hall County Fire Services is investigating a suspicious mobile home fire early this morning on Highland Terrace off Atlanta Highway.

Capt. Scott Cagle said the fire began just before 6 a.m. in a vacant mobile home in the West Side Mobile Home Park, before spreading to two neighboring homes.

"There was one vacant home fully involved upon arrival and (the fire) did damage two adjoining mobile homes," Cagle said.

He said the fire is suspicious because the home was vacant and had no power.

"There's several possibilities," Cagle said. "Of course, one would be arson, but, especially this time of year, it could be people just trying to get out of the cold and staying in vacant structures."

The mobile home where the fire originated is a total loss, Cagle said; the other two homes received structural damage.

Occupants of the two neighboring homes escaped without injury.

Investigators have not ruled out any possibilities and the cause remains under investigation.
