Federal officials have taken over the investigation of a single-engine plane crash near Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport Thursday. The National Transportation Safety Board continued its investigation Friday into the cause of the crash that killed one occupant and seriously injured another. Board spokesman Nicholas Worrell told The Times an investigator was working on recovery efforts Friday, gathering eyewitness statements, reviewing any available video and photographic evidence and analyzing maintenance and pilot records to determine the cause of the crash.
