Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a Toolbox for Education grant to Fair Street International Baccalaureate World School for the development of a "Reading Garden" outside the media center.

Fair Street is one of 1,000 schools or parent organizations nationwide to be awarded the grant for parent-initiated school improvement projects during the 2007-08 school year.

The school received $5,000, said principal Merrianne Dyer.

The garden will contain a seating area for classroom groups and individual outdoor seating areas for book clubs and quiet reading times.
