In giving motorists some holiday relief, the Georgia Department of Transportation plans to suspend construction-related lane closures on all interstates and major state routes from 5 a.m. Tuesday through 10 p.m. Dec. 28. Lane closures will be suspended over the New Year’s holiday as well, starting at 5 a.m. Dec. 31 and ending 5 a.m. Jan. 2. Incident management or emergency maintenance-related lane closures could become necessary on any route.
