The Enota Multiple Intelligence Academy Reading Bowl team placed second in the state reading bowl competition Saturday in Athens.

The team took on the Southern Division team from Matilda Harris Elementary School in Kingsland.

Students participating include Boone Alexander, Julia Ferguson, Kris Montague, Daniela Olalde, Sara Cook, Jennifer Carlos, Cori Griffith, Hank Robinson and Emma Daniel. All are fourth- and fifth-graders.

"They were not on top, but it was still a very close competition," Principal Susan Culbreth said. "The students demonstrated good sportsmanship and they did a phenomenal job."

The students dedicated this year's reading bowl to Andrea Gilbert, the school's media specialist and reading bowl coach, who is retiring this year.
