EMS personnel fly Gillsville burn patient to Atlanta hospital

Medical personnel took a Gillsville burn patient to Grady Hospital after a cooking incident last week, according to authorities.

Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols said authorities responded 6:05 p.m. July 23 to Sims Harris Road.

“Upon arrival they found a female patient with second- and first-degree burns to (30%) of her body from a cooking accident,” Nichols wrote in an email.

After being stabilized, the patient was taken by helicopter to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Nichols said she was in serious condition.

No other injuries were reported.
