Tuesday was the first day of early voting for SPLOST VI but there wasn’t much of a rush to get to the polls.
Hall County Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee-Hunter said only about 70 people voted Tuesday. Sosebee-Hunter said she doesn’t think there will be a high turnout for the special election, which allows voters to choose whether or not to
extend the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for another six years.
“I’m projecting probably about 19 percent,” she said.
Tuesday was also the last day to register to vote in the election. Sosebee-Hunter said some new voters registered while renewing drivers licenses, but there were no registrations specifically for SPLOST.
“We haven’t had much response as far as people coming in to register to vote,” she said.
The election for SPLOST VI will take place March 17.
