A Gainesville man was arrested Thursday after authorities found 1½ pounds of methamphetamine at a home in North Hall.

During a drug investigation, officers with the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad found the meth along with 2½ ounces of marijuana at a home in the 5000 block of W.G. Robinson Road near Price Road. The drugs are worth $77,500, according to a news release from Lt. Don Scalia with the drug squad.

Tyler Gene Minkel, 33, of Gainesville, is charged with trafficking meth and possessing meth and marijuana with the intent to distribute, Scalia reported. Minkel has been arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail.

Materials used to weigh and package drugs along with more than $7,000 in cash also were found, according to Scalia.

No other charges or arrests are expected in the case.

The MANS unit wrapped up two separate methamphetamine cases Thursday that removed an estimated $172,000 of narcotics.

“It was a pretty good day for MANS (Thursday),” Scalia said. “It was a result of a lot of hard work by my guys, and they really shined yesterday.”
