DOT does show and tell on winter weather equipment
0112SNOW6
The Georgia Department of Transportation's large tow plow is wide enough to clear two lanes at once. The tow plow is used mainly on four-lane stretches of highway.
Snow and ice have yet to cause serious trouble throughout Northeast Georgia, and temperatures may reach the upper 60s this week. But the Georgia Department of Transportation says it has the weather-fighting equipment ready to go and a plan in place if and when a winter storm presses them into action. Employees showed off the trucks and plows stored for such duty at the DOT’s District 1 offices off Gillsville Highway, near Athens Highway, in East Hall to area media Wednesday as part of its first-ever “Ready, Set, Snow.”
