The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to close one lane of Mundy Mill Road today and Wednesday for paving and striping. Construction crews plan to work on the eastbound lanes today and the westbound lanes on Wednesday. Lanes will alternately be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around Frontage Road.

Work continues on Interstate 985 as well. Today, crews will close the left lane of I-985 north for about a mile starting at Mundy Mill Road to just north of Atlanta Highway, said DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry.

"The lane will be closed as needed on weekdays only from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for about the next month, as weather permits. This closure won’t be in place every day but will happen several times per week," he said

A little farther north, crews continue the makeover of Exit 22. This interchange reconstruction project includes the construction of dual left turn lanes from U.S. 129 to the northbound entrance ramp of the I-985. The exit ramp from I-985 south to U.S. 129 will also get dual left turn lanes headed into Gainesville.

Additionally, a traffic signal will be installed at the ramps to and from I-985 south.

"Crews began laying asphalt last week. Lane closures will resume today if weather permits. This morning, crews will close the inside lane in each direction of (U.S. 129) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m."

The lane closure will start at Ridge Road and continue to the northbound ramps.

The overall projected completion date is July 31.
