The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $11.6 million contract for the widening of Ga. 347/Lanier Islands Parkway between McEver Road and Interstate 985. C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. of Marietta has been tapped for the 2-mile project, which also includes bridge reconstruction over a Norfolk Southern Railroad line. The completion date on the project is Nov. 30, 2014.
