A proposed Dollar General location at the intersection of Ledan and Sardis roads is on hold indefinitely as developers take a step back.

A Dollar General proposed for the intersection of Sardis and Ledan roads in North Hall County is on indefinite hold while developers go back to the drawing board.

The planning commission in October recommended denial of the application to rezone land at the intersection so that the retail store could be developed.

Residents cited fears about loss of property values, traffic congestion, particularly with schools located nearby, and plans to expand Sardis Road and potentially construct a roundabout at the intersection.

Developers pulled the proposal when it became clear that the county commission also had objections.

Planning Director Srikanth Yamala said the developers did not wish to bring the proposal back for consideration this year because they are making potential changes to the design and site plans.
