Two Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to talk a distraught woman off an East Hall bridge Sunday afternoon.

Authorities responded to Ga. 365 at Jesse Jewell Parkway/Ga. 369 at 12:40 p.m. after getting several reports of a female sitting on the edge of a bridge at the intersection.

When the first deputy arrived, she was seen on the northbound side of the bridge, overlooking the eastbound side of Jesse Jewell Parkway, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The subject was distraught and indicated that she wished to harm herself,” a Sheriff’s Office press release states.

Eventually, two deputies were able to “develop a rapport with” the female, “ultimately convincing her to seek medical assistance.”

She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for further evaluation.

Traffic was stopped or diverted on surrounding roads for nearly 40 minutes, authorities said.
