Local leaders and elected officials on Wednesday showed up to celebrate the groundbreaking of a planned medical office complex in Braselton that — once complete — could feature a mix of medical services.

Located beside Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, Riverstone Medical Development is being developed by a group of five vascular surgeons out of Athens.

Plans call for two 45,000-square-foot medical office buildings on 8.5 acres.

“This development is in the spirit of health and wellness,” said Dr. Jeffrey Pearce, one of the managing partners. “The group is excited about the opportunity to expand economic development and support the local community.”

Those in attendance at Wednesday’s groundbreaking included a representative from the Braselton mayor’s office, Braselton Town Council member Tony Funari and State Sen. Butch Miller, R-Gainesville.

The company developing the site, Foresight LLC, is made up of five doctors, including Pearce, Dr. David Sailors, Dr. Christopher Everett, Dr. Jonathan Woody and Dr. Michael Lebow.

According to a representative with Foresight’s project management company, the building could open for business as soon as spring 2016.
