A Demorest woman was injured in a Wednesday night crash that killed four University of Georgia students, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Abby Short, 27, was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center for injuries related to a crash before 9 p.m. on Ga. 15 in Watkinsville.
UGA students Kayla Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Scott, 19, of Dunwoody, were killed in the crash.
Agnes Kim, 21, of Snellville, the driver of a Toyota Camry carrying the UGA students, also remains hospitalized at Athens Regional Medical Center, state patrol said.
According to the preliminary crash information from state patrol, the Camry was traveling northbound on Ga. 15 while Short was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt in the southbound lane.
“For unknown reasons, the Camry traveled into the southbound lanes and was struck on the passenger side by a blue Chevrolet Cobalt,” state patrol said.
State patrol said they do not believe alcohol contributed to the crash. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team will conduct the investigation, and charges will be decided following the investigation, state patrol said.
