DeKalb Police investigating Gainesville womans death

A Gainesville woman was found dead in a DeKalb County creek last week, according to authorities.

Tekeila Calloway, 35, was found June 28, according to a DeKalb County police report.

According to the report, a man and his three children were walking in the woods near Field Green Drive in Stone Mountain when they discovered a body and called 911.

Police observed “a black female unresponsive and laying face first in a 3-foot deep creek,” according to the report.

The officer also saw “what appeared to be dried blood on the bridge above the body.”

DeKalb Police said Calloway was shot, but they are not releasing further information on the cause of death. DeKalb Police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said a shell casing was found at the scene.

Lt. Lonzy Robertson said there are no leads.
