Following the death of Joe Lane Cox earlier this month, the Dawsonville City Council is preparing to appoint an acting mayor and call for a special election. During a called work session March 15, the council discussed the mayoral vacancy and what steps to take toward filling it. City Attorney Dana Miles advised the council it must appoint an acting mayor until a special election can be held.
