Crews install new guardrails at wreck site in White County
0429safety2
Guardrails were installed Tuesday afternoon at the Gene Nix Road bridge in White County closing the road to through traffic.

White County Board of Commissioners voted to spend up to $20,000 for the new guardrails at the bridge south of Water Cress Road in response to a mid-March wreck that killed Cecily Mcree Hamilton, 16, and driver Taylor Scott Swing, 18, both of Cleveland.

Hamilton’s father, Shannon Hamilton, of Hall County, drew national attention when he was arrested April 12 for trying to put up temporary barricades. Charges were later dropped.
