The Jackson County Historic Courthouse Restoration Committee is hosting a Tour of the Historic Courthouse to reacquaint citizens with the needs of the interior restoration.

The tour will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. The cost is $5 per person.

The Historic Courthouse Heritage Celebration, a dinner/auction fundraiser, will be held from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Jefferson Civic Center. Tickets are $35 each or $245 for a table of eight.

The menu will consist of dishes enjoyed in 1908.

The program will include a report on the progress of the Historic Courthouse restoration, as well as future goals. Before the evening is complete, everyone will have an opportunity to bid on several old and new items related to the historic courthouse.

"We're hoping to have a good turnout for both events, as they comprise our local fundraising efforts," said Charlotte Mealor of the Jackson County Historic Courthouse Committee. "The exterior looks amazing and the grounds look much improved.
