Joyce Young said there was an argument at the front door with a woman she knew before gunshots.
“She pulled her gun out and she aimed it at me. When I turned around, that’s when I felt that she had shot me in my leg,” Young said.
Joyce Young, 25, was hit in the leg Monday afternoon on Mill Street and husband Nykita Young, 30, was struck in the shoulder.
Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said he was not aware of any suspects charged as of Tuesday night.
Young said she and Nykita were putting clothes in the car before the shooting, which happened around 1 p.m. Monday.
Both were treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where they were received in stable condition.
Joyce Young said the bullet was lodged in her thigh.
Police taped off the intersection at Mill Street and Patricia Drive after 1 p.m. Monday. Police escorted children getting off the school bus through the police perimeter.
Young said she was unsure what prompted the shooting.
