Hall County Finance Director Vickie Neikirk resigned on Monday.
The move comes after a difficult budget process this year that included several changes to revenue projections and spending figures as officials neared the start of the 2016 fiscal year, according to sources.
The Hall County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 last month to approve a $93.6 million general fund budget for the 2016 fiscal year with no tax increase.
The budget includes funding to open the courthouse annex in downtown Gainesville, $1.4 million for employee raises, and money to add 24 new full-time positions.
Neikirk will receive three months’ severance and benefits. Her salary was $105,580.80.
County spokeswoman Katie Crumley said the finance director’s job will be advertised in the coming days with state and national professional associations.
