The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has resumed its normal shoreline management duties at Lake Lanier. Since May 20, shoreline management staff had been helping with park recreation “in an effort to provide support for public safety initiatives,” according to a Monday news release. “We were getting into a situation with (park) visitation where our rangers were about to get overrun and (had) lost control of some of the parks,” said Tim Rainey, the corps’ operations manager at the lake, in a July interview.
