Kayla Grimes of White County High School has been awarded a scholarship in honor of Cecily Mcree Hamilton, who died in a car accident March 15 on Gene Nix bridge in White County.

Grimes had a 3.94 cumulative GPA and the best essay. She was awarded $3,000 and plans to attend the University of North Georgia. This is the first scholarship awarded in Hamilton’s name. Plans originally called for scholarships to be awarded beginning in 2017, but the family wanted to give the opportunity to the girls who cheered with Hamilton at White County High School.
