Newsmakers in business: Gainesville doctor McDonald chosen to lead Medical Association of Ga.

Dr. Frank McDonald Jr.

Dr. Frank McDonald Jr. was elected president of the Medical Association of Georgia at its House of Delegates meeting in Savannah Oct. 15. He will begin a one-year term as MAG’s president at this time next year.

McDonald is a board-certified neurologist with The Longstreet Clinic in Gainesville. He will be the first Longstreet Clinic physician to serve as Medical Association of Georgia’s president.

McDonald has been speaker of the medical association’s House of Delegates for the past two years. Prior to that, he was vice-speaker for six years.

McDonald received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School, and completed his residency and fellowship at University Hospital in Jackson, Miss. He earned an MBA with honors from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

The Medical Association of Georgia has more than 7,800 members and represents physicians in every specialty and practice setting.
