Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County CEO Steven Mickens has been awarded the Robert M. Sykes Award for Professional Excellence in the Southeast Region by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Each year, the national organization accepts nominations from Boys & Girls Clubs employees and board members.

Mickens took over the CEO role in 2011. Since then, the clubs, newly renamed as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, have grown to include five school sites, one public housing site and three club locations, serving approximately 5,600 youngsters annually between ages of 6 and 18 through its programs.
