Multiple government, education and business officials from Hall County graduated from the board of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development’s 2016 Region 2 multi-day training program last month.

Class participants represented a number of professional and nonprofessional economic development fields, including elected officials, public servants, business leaders, educators, and social service providers from 12 counties in Region 2.

The academy provided each of the graduates an opportunity to gain a unique understanding of the complexities of economic and community development on the local, regional and state levels.

Hall County graduates included University of North Georgia Gainesville campus Vice President Richard Oates; Brenau University’s College of Business & Mass Communication Dean Suzanne Erickson; David Lloyd of Liberty Utilities; and Flowery Branch City Councilman Chris Mundy.

The city of Gainesville had City Council members Barbara Brooks and Zack Thompson, Department of Water Resources Director Linda MacGregor and City Manager Bryan Lackey.

Lula City Councilmen Marvin Moore, Vince Evans and Garnett Smith graduated from the program.
