Local teams take top 3 spots in student CPR video contest

Local students swept the top three places in a “Hands Only CPR” student video contest held in conduction with the North Georgia Heart Foundation and the Northeast Georgia Regional STEMI System’s annual STEMI Summit.

Lakeview Academy’s Cameron Wells, Seth Munn, Courtland Gilbert and Haughton Carswell took first place.

North Hall High School’s Evan Easton, Noah Hopkins, Walker Jackson and Bartley Forrester finished second, and North Hall’s Morgan Mize, Jacob Barrett and Kelton Kieschnick were third.

The STEMI Summit is an annual conference that features presentations by local, national, and international experts on various therapies and treatments for STEMIs, a heart attack that requires immediate treatment with emergent cardiac catheterization and intervention.  It is attended by health care providers and educators, including emergency medical technician personnel and paramedics, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nursing educators and students, and others.

This year’s summit, the ninth annual, was held March 10-11at Chateau Elan Conference Center and had more than 1,300 attendees.
