Daughters of the Revolution Chapter honors community members at annual Awards Tea

The Col. William Candler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Gainesville met at the Northeast Georgia History Center to host its annual Awards Tea.

During the event, the DAR Chapter recognized students, faculty and leaders in the community for showing leadership and patriotism, or authored essays on a chosen topic. The Lyman Hall Chapter Sons of the American Revolution color guard presented the colors during the ritual.

The following are the winners of the American History Essay Award: Isabella Owens, John Tran, Marcos Marreno-Wren and Brenda Young.

The following are the winners of the Community Service Award: Cheryl Vandeberg and Frank Armstrong.

The following are winners of the DAR Good Citizens Award: Kayla Canada, Luke Lovell, Hannah McQueen, Claudia Mendoza, Ana Oropeza, Jissel Reyes and Jake Thompson.

The following are the winners of the Junior Citizens Award: Arianna Banks, Sarah Becker, Yuna Cheng, Tristin Johnson, Helen Martin, Johslyn Matthews, Samuel Partee, Brian Perez and John Tran.

The following students are the winners of the Youth Citizenship Award: Oscar Aguirre, Natalia Barrero, Lily Bourgeois, Sarah Brown, Carly Evans, Trang Tranh Tran-Huynh, Emma Kate, Marianna Madera, Connor Pendarvis, Madyson Roberts, Elizabeth Ross and Kinsey Wilson.
