The Braselton Rotary Club collected items for care packages it is sending to U.S. Army soldiers serving in the remote areas of Afghanistan. Braselton Mayor Bill Orr, also a Rotarian, suggested the collection of sunscreen and other sun protection productions, fans and batteries, candy and other snack treats, small games, crossword puzzles, small footballs, sports team ballcaps and other touches of home. Rotarian Leigh Carroll, immediate past president, whose son is a member of the armed forces, took the lead on the project and encouraged donations of items as well as monetary donations that were used to buy some of the most requested items on the soldiers’ wish list.
