Bowen juried art, literary winners named

The Bowen Center for the Arts is holding its juried Round Up Western Art & Literary Show through April 21.

The following awards were given for art:

• First place, $600 prize, Rosie Coleman, Athens, watercolor “A Cowboy and His Cigar”

• Second place, $300 prize, Peggy Cozart, Dahlonega, photograph “188”

• Third place, $150 prize, Allen Money, Cumming, wood bowl “Requiem”

The following awards were given for writing:

• First place, $150 prize, Kimberly Boim, Dawsonville, short story “A Ring of Yellow Light”

• Second place, $100 prize, James Henderson, Gainesville, short story “Homemade Ice Cream”

• Third place, $50 prize, T.C. Carter, Four Oaks, N.C., poem “Born to the Leather”

The Bowen Center for the Arts is located just north of the historic square in Dawsonville at 334 Ga. 9 North. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. All exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public.
