Community dock meeting moves to West Hall Middle

The location for next week's informational meeting concerning community dock permits has been changed to West Hall Middle School, 5470 McEver Road, Oakwood.

The meeting had been planned for neighboring West Hall High School.

The time hasn't changed, however. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers still plans to hold the meeting 6-8 p.m. May 24.

The meeting concerns a change to Lake Lanier's 2004 Shoreline Management Plan. Developers with community dock permits that have lapsed or will lapse by 2013 will have until Dec. 1, 2014, to submit a final residential plat that has been approved by the "local issuing authority" or government.

"A few of these developments have not pursued final plat approval and are now approaching or beyond the expiration date of their shoreline use permit," said Tim Rainey, Lanier's operations project manager, in an April memo.

A public meeting also is planned for 6-8 p.m. June 14 at Dawson County Middle School, 332 Highway 9 North, Dawsonville.
