The North Hall Community Center isn’t entirely finished but that doesn’t mean people can’t come in and use some of the new facility’s services.
Hall County Parks and Leisure Director Mike Little said the facility will open today with limited services.
“We’re getting a lot of calls and people are wanting to come in and look around. Everyone is really excited,” Little said.
Beginning today, people can come into the center to play pool or air hockey in the game room, play basketball in the gyms or work out in the fitness center.
Little said the cardio room is set up in the fitness center but still needs some other fitness items such as stack weights.
The park has four baseball fields, batting cages, a track and a multipurpose field.
Little said the outdoor athletic fields have been getting a lot of use since they opened in August.
The technology center is not yet ready to open, however, and the center has little furniture.
The technology center will be a state-of-the-art Hall County Library branch. Patrons can use the center’s Mac computer labs and order books through the state’s PINES library system, or borrow iPads, Kindles and Nooks to use while at the center.
Room rentals are not available yet but reservations can be made now for winter holiday use.
Little said a grand opening celebration will be held in November when the center is complete. The grand opening ceremony will include a ribbon cutting, music groups and children’s activities.
“We’re planning a big day with a festival-type atmosphere,” Little said.
The center will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed Sundays. Beginning Oct. 13, the community center will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
