The Brenau University volleyball team won its first Southern States Athletic Conference match since 2003 on Saturday, dropping Brewton Parker 3-0 (30-25, 30-26, 20-28).

The three-game win qualified the Golden Tigers for the SSAC tournament, which begins Nov. 8 at Mount Vernon. It will be Brenau’s first trip to the conference tournament since 2002.

"This was truly a team effort and we got contributions from everyone on the team in the match," Brenau coach Meredith Matthews said. "It feels so good to get that monkey off our backs and get our first conference win."

Sophomore setter Audra VanArdsdale led the way with 29 assists, 10 digs, seven aces and two kils. Sophomore Karen Green chipped in with 12 kills and six blocks and sophomore libero added 22 digs.
