All Flowery Branch residents are invited to attend an open forum to meet the four candidates vying for two posts within the Flowery Branch City Council.

The public meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sterling on the Lake community clubhouse. All four candidates are scheduled to speak at the forum.

For Post 1, Craig Lutz will run against incumbent Jim Herold, who has been on the council for nearly four years. For Post 2 Chris Fetterman will run against Kellin Dobbs. Jan Smith currently occupies Post 2, but will not be seeking re-election on Nov. 6.

Candidates will present a five- to-seven-minute overview of their qualifications for City Council posts and their campaign platform. Candidates will be allowed a short rebuttal to comments made by other candidates. At the end of the forum, audience members will be given 15 minutes to ask questions of any candidates.

The City Council approves the city’s budget and determines tax rates for the municipality.

Hot topics at the forum are likely to include land-use development, water capacity, the recently
approved tax allocation district, the city’s population growth and commercial business development.
