Child care background check bill passes with help from Gainesville senator
Placeholder Image
A bill that strengthens background checks on child care workers is expected to head to Gov. Nathan Deal after state Sen. Butch Miller, R-Gainesville, successfully shepherded it through the Georgia Senate last week. House Bill 350 requires that all employees who work in a child care program or center pass a national fingerprint background check every five years instead of just a name search of Georgia state records.
