A child buying ice cream Sunday was struck by a passing vehicle, Georgia State Patrol said.

Seven-year-old Victor Bonilla was walking toward an ice cream truck stopped on Floyd Road near El Dorado Drive in the eastern part of the county, said GSP Cpl. Dallas Van Scoten.

“A child unsupervised walked up into the road and went to the truck. There was another car that came up behind the ice cream truck (and) decided that he was going to pass the ice cream truck,” Van Scoten said.

The passing Dodge Magnum struck Bonilla as he returned home, Van Scoten said.

Bonilla was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Information was not available on the child’s condition nor the identities of the other drivers.
