Two people were taken to the hospital following a wreck involving a Gainesville City School System bus and two vehicles near McEver Road and Vineyard Way in West Hall.

Georgia State Patrol said Soleil Nyasamaza, 23, of Gainesville, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection in a Toyota Sienna.

Authorities said Nyasamaza was making a left turn when “she entered ... into the path” of a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Johnny Martinez, 22, of Gainesville.

“After impact, (the Toyota Sienna traveled) across the raised curbed median and traveled into the oncoming lane,” according to state patrol.

The Toyota Sienna then hit the school bus head-on in the northbound lane of McEver Road.

Nyasamaza and passenger Johnson Mukuku, 34, of Gainesville, were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for minor injuries.

Martinez, his passenger Maria Silva De Martinez, 68, of Gainesville, and school bus driver Karen Barrett, 57, of Gainesville, were not injured.

“One child had a complaint of injury but was not transported and was released to the child’s parents,” according to state patrol.

Gainesville City Schools Superintendent Jeremy Williams said a second bus transported students home.

Nyasamaza was charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign, according to state patrol.
