Deteriorating conditions and dwindling revenues have prompted officials at the Chicopee Woods Golf Course to lay off the director of golf, take ownership of the pro shop and consider a shakeup of members on an oversight committee in an effort to get the ball back on the green. It also has stirred concerns about whether Hall County taxpayers might soon be on the hook for nearly $3 million in bond debt owed by the course. The fallout from the departure of golf course director Jim Arendt, whose position was “eliminated” last week, played out at a meeting of the Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission on Tuesday.
