Authorities are still not willing to say what caused the death of a 3-year-old boy in Lumpkin County last weekend.

Kimberly Williams, special agent in charge for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Cleveland office, said Tuesday investigators are still awaiting autopsy results before commenting further on the case.

Until those results come in, Williams said, the agency is not willing to make a determination on whether the boy died from natural causes or if foul play was suspected.

The GBI was asked to assist the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office in an investigation into the boy's death shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the boy was found unresponsive in his home and a parent notified emergency dispatchers.

The Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office has referred all questions about the case to the GBI. Lumpkin County Deputy Coroner Ronald Fortner, who worked the scene Sunday, couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
