Cable outage affecting nearly 200 homes

Nearly 190 area homes are without telephone, internet or cable television service today as a result of problems at a Charter Communications cable plant in Gainesville, said a Charter representative.

Service to those homes has been down since about 10 a.m., the representative said.

“Technicians have been sent out to fix the problem,” she said. “In a couple more hours, it should be up and running.”

The cable repair representative said she’s not certain of why one of the nodes at the cable plant is down. If services are not restored to Charter customers today, she said customers can call 888-438-2427 to report persisting problems.
