Two seminars aimed at helping small businesses are scheduled for this week.
The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its Small Business Success Seminar for 7:45 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Chamber office, 230 E.E. Butler Parkway in Gainesville.
The seminar covers numerous subjects of interest to small-business owners and managers and provides networking opportunities. At 8 a.m., a program on "How to Speak with Power, Poise and Persuasion" will be presented by Bill Lampton of Champion Communication. It is offered free to members, $15 to guests.

A course on starting a small business is set for 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at The Featherbone Center, 999 Chestnut St., Gainesville. The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center is offering the course, "Starting a Business: Planning & Financing."
It will walk participants through the development process of creating a marketing strategy, and will cover marketing research, start-up cost estimates, managing cash flow, financing alternatives, choosing legal forms of business, permitting and licensing, and risk management.
Class materials include the text. The cost is $69 per person.
